One of the earliest ‘biomedical’ things we did with our son was to start him on a diet.
Now “whoa” you might say – “hold on – what’s biomedical???” Its one of those jargon-words in the world of behavioural problems and howto help kids. Basically what it refers to is things that can be altered or changed in the diet or the environment. It is being understood that positive changes can be made by eating differently, providing the body with the right nutritional supplementation, and managing other factors in the environment. In the scheme of things Aspergers is fairly new on the medical scene – Hans Asperger was the first to document the condition, in 1944, during WWII but it took another 40+ years to become an accepted diagnosis – ironically it wasn’t recognised until after Hans Aspergers’ death.
